Altea Update: Jun 6

Hello there,

Welcome to the best of the Altea Community.

Let’s go 🚀

👋 New Members

Welcome to the 54 new members since last week 👋

A few notable members..

🏖️ Christopher Beckman is Newport Beach-based startup and IP attorney with 20 years of experience, ranging from business formation to patent prosecution and licensing.

As a patent attorney registered at the USPTO, he’s worked extensively on patent and brand monetization.

🐬 Florida-based Anthon Sonnenberg, PhD manages an S&P 500-based systematic fund designed specifically for investors who want market-beating growth without the catastrophic downturns.

He uses a systematic trend-following overlay. When the trend is positive, they capture the growth. When a major downturn or regime shift triggers the system’s rules, he systematically de-risks (moving to cash or go short) to avoid, or profit from, the crash.

🔔 John Maas is the CMO at IRA Financial which helps investors use self-directed IRAs and Solo 401(k)s to invest in alternative assets while preserving the tax advantages of retirement accounts. He lives in Pennsylvania.

Altea SPV Updates

🏎 Auto I: Navigating a red-hot market

The market for modern classics and collectible cars continues to show remarkable strength. Demand remains robust, with many of the world’s most desirable cars experiencing significant appreciation over the last 12 months.

This creates a new challenge: identifying genuine opportunities versus assets that have become caught up in short-term market exuberance.

Our focus remains unchanged. We are not chasing momentum.

Instead, we continue to target the characteristics that have consistently driven value creation over time: low production numbers, exceptional brand pedigree, cultural significance, rarity, and the kind of poster-car status that transcends generations of enthusiasts.

The pipeline remains extremely exciting. Tomorrow we will be inspecting a Porsche 993 RS in Switzerland, one of the most sought-after air-cooled Porsche models ever produced. Alongside this, a Ferrari 550 Barchetta, Lamborghini Diablo and Ford GT all remain firmly on our shortlist.

As always, once a specific acquisition progresses to the final stages, we will be straight on to give an update. The market is moving quickly, but disciplined curation has never been more important.

We remain focused on sourcing exceptional assets at sensible entry points and continuing to deliver the attractive risk-adjusted returns that have become the hallmark of the Auto I strategy.

🗺️ Maritime I: Oversubscribed the round

We’re excited to share that the CHF 500K (USD 625K) allocation at the special valuation has now been fully subscribed.

Nearly CHF 200K came from Altea members, with the remaining allocation filled by investors outside the community.

A huge thank you to everyone who has already chosen to join us on this journey!

💬 New Discussions

  • Lucas King shared what is probably the funniest graph ever published by the FT: Our three possible AI futures are either 1) infinite wealth and abundance, 2) human extinction or 3) 0.2% faster GDP growth

“Imagine surviving the robot apocalypse and all we got was 20 bps of extra GDP growth” — Bryan Cooley

  • Torsten Slok from Apollo has been putting out some good data on AI and the economy lately. The biggest takeaway is that AI is undoubtedly pushing solo entrepreneurs to form new businesses.

“This is fascinating, I think the gains will trickle up on rev per employee once the new entrepreneurs find product market fit.

After few quarters we’ll see all those new entrepreneurs settle into their most repeatable and profitable workflows. They’ll start to automate parts of those workflows and rev per employee will skyrocket for these smaller teams then.

I see that happening for most of these new entrepreneurs in 2027, at least the one ones who survive the burdens of biz.” — Max

⛩️ Japan Trip: New speaker announced!

We’re excited to announce that Terrie Lloyd will be joining our Investor Trip to Japan this October.

You may recall Terrie from his recent post on revitalizing traditional Japanese homes.

One of the most experienced Western entrepreneurs operating in Japan (44 years on the ground) Terrie’s current venture is building a portfolio of traditional Japanese homes (100+ years old) through fractional ownership and renovation, using a cluster acquisition model designed for recurring visitors and low-key investors.

Terrie will discuss the investment opportunity inside Japan’s aging housing stock.

▶️ New Video: Film bridge lending

In this video, Stefan breaks down film bridge lending: what it is, why it exists, and why it’s closer to private credit than anything you’d associate with Hollywood.

If you’re an accredited investor curious about private credit opportunities in an industry most people misunderstand, this is a good place to start.

⚠️ New Warning: Manhattan ST Notes LLC

Manhattan ST Notes LLC is a structured note product in which a number of international investors placed a minimum of USD $50,000.

Investors have not received coupon payments or principal repayment as contractually due.

We’ve created a private space to discuss

A group of affected investors is forming to pursue coordinated recovery action. Regulators and authorities take collective complaints significantly more seriously than individual ones. A unified group also makes it possible to share legal costs, pool evidence, and present a consolidated picture of the total amount at stake.

Given that the minimum investment was $50,000, the aggregate losses across all investors are likely in the millions.

If you’d like to join the private space, reach out to Marie, or leave a comment here.

That’s it for today!

See you next week, Wyatt & Stefan
