Due diligence is not just performed by us here at Alts — it’s performed by Altea community members with domain expertise.
Before a deal makes it to Altea, we pull in relevant experts from the community.
For example, farmland investing expert Dr. Tigran K. analyzed the financials of this avocado plantation in the Philippines. Based on his thorough research, we decided not to move forward on this deal.
We call this decentralized due diligence. It’s what sets Altea apart.

What is Altea?
It’s a supportive community where alternative investors access unique, vetted alternative investments, meet captivating people, and enjoy once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences.

Do I have to be an accredited investor to join?
You don’t have to be an accredited investor to join Altea. But you do have to be accredited to invest in most deals.
What are the membership requirements for Altea?
While there are no official requirements per se, you’ll get the most out of Altea if:
- You’re an accredited investor (or your country’s equivalent).
- You’ve invested in alternatives before and want to increase your exposure.
- You already have some deal flow but want to get more.
- You have something genuinely valuable to contribute to the community.
- You enjoy traveling, meeting new people, and learning new things.
How does Altea select and vet investment opportunities?
Altea conducts an initial assessment of potential deals.
Each investment is assessed for risk at the community level, with members contributing their expertise.
But much of the due diligence is community-driven. Members with expertise in specific areas help evaluate the risks and returns of deals.
For niche markets like art or music royalties, Altea works with industry specialists to assess market volatility, legal constraints, and potential returns.
We call this decentralized due diligence. The collaborative nature of the community ensures that each deal gets thoroughly vetted.
What does membership in Altea cost?
Altea has three membership tiers:
- Altea Gateway
- Altea Base
- Altea Black
If you’re not sure which option is right for you, start by trying Altea Gateway for $99 for one month.
What are the investment terms?
The minimum investment varies per deal. Most deals typically require a minimum of $10k – $20k USD.
However, some deals receive expressions of interest far above the normal level. For the very best deals, we put together a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) and invest together with the community as one.
SPVs are great for deals with high minimums that would otherwise be out of reach. They allow Altea members to test the waters with a smaller investment amount than would otherwise be required.
Investment duration varies depending on the deal. Some investments, like film financing, may have a shorter term (1-2 years), while others, such as real estate or art, could be longer-term commitments (3-5 years or more).
Exiting deals early depends on the structure of each specific investment. Some deals allow for liquidity events or secondary markets, while others may have lock-up periods. It is important to review the terms of each deal before investing.
Do you need to be an Altea member to invest in deals?
Yes, Altea investments are for members only.
What kind of participation is required?
Members are encouraged to actively engage by attending events, participating in online forums, and conducting due diligence on deals based on their expertise. Altea thrives on member collaboration, and those who are more involved tend to gain the most value.
We ask Altea members to bring something unique, to help strengthen the community.
This can be:
- An occasional Altea-worthy deal
- A meaningful introduction to someone in your network
- Peer reviews and honest feedback on a deal you’ve looked at
- Something valuable (this can be defined in many ways)
- Or just finding a way to be helpful!
Can members submit their own deals?
Yes, Altea encourages members to bring their own investment opportunities to the community for review.
Members can collaborate to evaluate deals and co-invest in opportunities that align with the community’s interests.
How do the investor trips and meetups work?
Altea organizes thematic investor field trips to explore unique investment opportunities firsthand.
Recent trips have focused on tequila aging in Mexico and music royalties in Nashville. These trips are discounted for members, with pricing reflective of the community’s goal to provide valuable, immersive experiences.
We also host various events throughout the year, including dinners, networking opportunities, and educational sessions. While some are location-based, others are virtual to accommodate the geographically diverse membership.
- Altea Gateway members cannot join investor trips, but may join one local meetup for free each year
- Altea Base members can join all local meetups for free, and investor trips (the price varies per trip)
- Altea Black members can join all local meetups for free, and one investor trip for free per year.
How does Altea handle the legal and regulatory aspects of international investments?
Altea works with legal teams to ensure all investments are compliant with local and international regulations.
The community primarily operates in heavily regulated industries like finance and real estate, ensuring that deals are legally sound.
Due to the geographic spread of members, careful attention is paid to cross-border regulatory considerations.
