BREAKING UPDATE – X-Men buyout offer

Welcome to Comics Insider – FREE Version. This is a new feature where we analyze a current buyout offer.

X-Men #1 CGC 9.4

About the Asset

This is a 9.4 graded copy of X-Men #1. It’s the origin of the X-Men, and we wrote quite a lot about it when it IPO’ed in March if you’d like to know more.

There are 13 other 9.4 graded copies in circulation with six higher.

About the Offer

Rally has received a net offer of $302k ($25.21 per share). This is a 26% premium to the IPO price from March.

Based on that, the gross offer was probably around $323k.

Recent Sales History and Valuation

This thing trades around as often as the Mona Lisa.

Rally bought the asset for $215k in November 2020 from Vincent Zurzolo, owner of the famous Metropolis Comics in New York. Before that, the last public sale was for $153k March 2018.

Inferred value – much more than the buyout offer

Verdict

I don’t own any of these shares, but I’d vote no if I did. It’s just way too low.
