California Blocks Controversial AI Safety Bill
California Governor Gavin Newsom vetoed S.B. 1047, a highly debated AI safety bill aimed at regulating AI firms and new model releases. Backed by Elon Musk, Anthropic, and over 120 Hollywood figures, the bill faced opposition from tech giants like OpenAI and Google, who argued it would hamper innovation.
Newsom called the bill “well-intentioned” but flawed, promising to consult AI experts on future regulations. The debate over AI governance is far from over.

Ford Offers Free EV Chargers to Buyers
Ford, the second-largest EV seller behind Tesla, announced a new incentive offering free Level 2 home chargers and installation to new EV buyers. This program, valued at several thousand dollars, could help Ford chip away at Tesla’s market dominance.
Ford CEO Jim Farley emphasized that home charging is crucial for EV adoption, with 90% of shoppers saying they’re more likely to buy if they can charge at home. The offer applies to the F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, and E-Transit Cargo Van until year’s end.
