Serena Williams Preview RC

About the Asset

This is a Serena Williams rookie card from the 2003 NetPro card set.

The NetPro series comprised several subsets, and this is the Glossy International Preview set. There were only 500 of this card produced, and very few of them survived to be sent off to PSA for grading. Of the 37 with PSA, 23 are PSA 10s.

This card has just about doubled over the last few months.

About the athlete

Serena Williams is one of the top two or three tennis players of all time (including men) and has been name the greatest female tennis player in the open era. Her 23 grand slams are second only Margaret Court (hello nominative determinism), who had 24. She has a further 19 grand slam titles from doubles and mixed competitions.

She’s consistently the highest earning female athlete in the world with $29m in 2016 and $27m in 2017.

She’s struggled a bit since returning from maternity leave in 2018 and hasn’t won a Grand Slam since then. She may be in the twilight of her career, but I wouldn’t be against her picking up a few more titles before she retires.

Recent sales history and Valuation

Inferred value between $15k and $35k.

Serena Williams Elite RC

About the asset

This is a another Serena Williams rookie card from the 2003 NetPro card set.

This is from the NetPro Elite subset, and it features her preparing to serve. The Elite subset was limited to just 100 cards each. Graded 9.5, there are no higher cards with BGS, though there are 17 PSA 10s on record.

This card has just about 10x over the last year.
