Our investing journey leads us to some interesting places. One of the ways we explore new investing ideas is through our investor trips.
In February, we did our first trip to Mexico, and it was a huge success. So this October, we’re doing our second trip: A music-themed journey to Nashville, Tennessee
What comes to mind when you think of Nashville?
Country music? Taylor Swift? Dolly Parton? Boozy bachelorette parties?
Those are all part of the rhythm, but there’s much more to the symphony.
Nashville is arguably the global center of music culture, production and innovation.
Not New York, not London, not LA. Nashville.
The legendary city is dotted with countless vibrant live music venues, recording studios, museums, festivals, and deluxe restaurants.
Its music scene is extremely diverse; ranging from rock & pop, to bluegrass & hip-hop. It’s also the home to a litany of music tech startups, as well as a great bourbon scene, and a booming real estate market.
The city’s unique blend of history, industry presence, and cultural diversity offers a fertile ground for exploring music investment ideas — and for forging lasting partnerships in the music industry and beyond.
This trip is designed for professionals. Alts trips are an eclectic mix of industry pros, local experts, and alpha-seeking investors.
It’s not just a party (though we’ll have plenty of fun). And it won’t be a large, crowded event (only 12 spots are available).
It’s an authentic IRL experience for those looking to understand how the music industry actually works. No BS, no blatant self-promotion, no fluff.
You’ll live like a rockstar for a week 🤘
This trip will strike a balance between live music experiences, fascinating speakers, and hands-on due diligence on music investment opportunities.
We’ll stay at the new W Hotel — a luxury property located in the heart of the Gulch, one of the city’s trendiest neighborhoods.
With a modern, upscale vibe, the W is the perfect gathering place for adventurous people seeking an exciting Nashville experience. It pulses with the same creative energy that flows throughout this magnetic city.
In the mornings we’ll host legendary speakers over breakfast. In the afternoons we’ll tour recording studios, and go backstage at famous Cannery Hall — one of Nashville’s top venues.
In the evenings we’ll dine at mouth-watering steakhouses, do a a river boat cruise, sample the finest Kentucky Bourbons, and catch some live shows.
This event will bring together some of the sharpest minds at the intersection of music investing, culture, and Nashville.
Apply here and we’ll notify you notified when new speakers are added.

Music rights are one of the most sought-after, and yet one of the least-understood alternative asset classes.
Owning song rights entitles you to royalties which are paid out each time the song is played or reproduced. Top investors buy directly from record companies, others through platforms like JKBX. But the entry bar is high, and getting access to the best deals is very difficult.
Nashville has a unique concentration of industry pros and royalties infrastructure, including legal and financial experts specializing in music law and rights transactions.
Our goal is to return from this trip with concrete, diligenced rights deals, which we can potentially invest in together through an Altea SPV.
For music startups, Nashville is the place to be. You’ll hang out with founders from companies including:
Investing in music memorabilia is a potentially lucrative venture for collectors, investors, and fans.
Cristy Barber will be guiding us through the ecosystem. A grammy-nominated industry veteran, Cristy is now the VP of Pop Culture at Julien’s Auctions, and runs their shiny new Nashville office.
Julien’s has some incredible music memorabilia. Their May 2024 auction showcased dozens of stage played instruments, including a Prince guitar and a John Lennon guitar that sold for $2.8m.
Julien’s hosts special exhibitions and music memorabilia auctions. We’ll get up close and personal with some pieces destined for auction.
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Johnny Cash Museum are great places to see unique collections — we’ll check them out as well.
This is a gathering of connected industry pros, local experts, and music-loving investors eager to learn & have fun.
You’ll meet successful producers, songwriters, emerging artists, music startup founders, auction house reps, venue owners and booking agents. Friendly folks happy to share their insights on the rapidly evolving music investing landscape.
Finally, you’ll meet fellow Alts community members who live in the area and are connected to Nashville’s music ecosystem.
The Nashville metropolitan area is among the fastest-growing regions in the US.
There are lots of good trends in multifam housing, hospitality, and industrial real estate. But for those navigating the Nashville real estate market, staying informed about these trends and being prepared to act quickly on opportunities is crucial.
We’ll meet with locals who own & operate short-term rental properties to discuss the STR market, and maybe explore some Tennessee farmland ideas.
