Welcome to the WC, wherein you’re trapped in my mind for eight to twelve minutes weekly.
Last week’s issue diving into alternative investment opportunities in India left many feeling invigorated but exhausted, so this week’s WC focuses on lighter fare.
Remember, Altea members can read the 20 pages of notes I put together when writing last week’s issue. It includes all sources and lots more info than what’s included here.
Also, I want to gauge interest in an investor field trip to India later this year.
Wanna come? Let me know here.
👉 This is roughly what I have planned.
The price would be around $5k for Altea members. If there is room left, non-members are welcome to join for around $10k.

Southern Spain’s cheapest seaside town
Property prices in Spain continue to climb as foreign buyers hoover up prime real estate. It’s having some…unfortunate consequences.

But!
If you’re a rich foreign property buyer who’s missed the boat, it’s not too late to scoop up a seaside villa or frontline apartment for cheap.
Manilva, near Malaga, features homes within a stone’s throw of the beach for around $250 per square foot.
Most will need some work, but when you can buy a Mediterranean villa for under $400k, that leaves a lot of cash for renovation.
How do the ultra-wealthy spend their money?
Speaking of pleasant ways to spend your money, the FatFire sub on Reddit often uncovers gems like this post on how the ultra-wealthy spend their dough.
I was surprised to see how much portfolio allocation still goes toward real estate, though I suspect the number is inflated due to the real estate runup over the last ten years.
The Education Revolution
Anand Sanwal, who founded CB Insights, is starting a new type of school.
It’s a school that teaches entrepreneurship.
No summer break from school
— Anand Sanwal (@asanwal) January 6, 2025
Given learning loss / summer slide that happens with long summer breaks, we’re thinking of smaller more regular breaks for the Schools of Entreprenuering vs the traditional long summer break
This would mean ~41 weeks of school vs 36 (typical amt for…
As a hyper-nerdy entrepreneur dad of three, this immediately piques my curiosity.
As an investor, the education revolution in America–and around the world–has my interest.
Studies show that AI does a better job of tutoring kids than human teachers, and we’re still not at ChatGPT 5.

Spotify’s playlists’ unexpected impacts
“A few years after Spotify’s founding in 2006, executives commissioned a study. It revealed that many listeners were using the streaming service as background accompaniment to the quotidian activities, from workouts to ironing, that filled their days—and nights.”
I spend probably eight or ten hours daily on Spotify, and I rarely listen to the music. It’s just the soundtrack to my day.
Sometimes, I make a deliberate choice, like today’s playlist.

But usually, it’ll be slop like “Coffee Shop Concentration.”
With 84% of music revenue coming from streams, this trend has profoundly affected the music industry, leading to strange outcomes.
A lotta guac

Super Bowl LIX is done and dusted, and while the game may have postponed Patrick Mahomes’s crowning as the greatest QB of all time, one clear winner emerged: Mexican avocados.
America imported 110,000 tonnes of avocados for the big game and paid 11.5% more than in 2024.
That’s a quarter-million pieces of the green fruit with a street value of around $500 million.
In 2025, around two billion avocados will be imported to the US, contributing around $7.5 billion to the US GDP and supporting 42,000 jobs.
That’s a lotta guac.
That’s all for this week; I hope you enjoyed it.
Cheers,
Wyatt
