Roberto Clemente 1959 Game Used Bat GU 10

What is the Asset?

This is a 1959 game-used Roberto Clemente bat graded PSA/DNA GU 10 with his nickname “Momen” etched into the barrel. It has heavy game use and though his 1959 season wasn’t special (it was right before his breakout championship 1960 season) the use of his nickname adds to the appeal.

Rally originally purchased the asset for $60,000 in July of 2020.

Coincidentally, a game-used Clemente bat just IPO’d on Collectable last week. I wrote about it here — it had a very similar market cap and sold out quickly despite being a lower grade from a later year.

What is the current status of the Asset?

It originally IPO’d at Rally Road last October with 2,000 shares at $35 each for a total valuation of $70,000. It fell dramatically in the last trading window on April 1st all the way down to $15/share for a market cap of $30,000. It re-opens for trading on Wednesday July 7th from 9:30 AM – 4 PM EST.

A couple of assets that fell around that time (for example, the Buzz Aldrin stick) have shot back up in the next trading window, so don’t be surprised to see that happen here.

Kevin Durant Nets Debut Jersey

What is the Asset?

I wrote about this asset when it IPO’d in May. This is the jersey that Kevin Durant wore in his first game for the Brooklyn Nets (ironically, against his former team, the Golden State Warriors) on December 22nd, 2020 and was purchased by Otis from NBA Auctions in February for $45,200.

What is the current status of the Asset?

It originally IPO’d at Otis on May 17th with 4,760 shares at $10 each for a total valuation of $47,600. It opens for trading on Wednesday July 7th at 3 PM EST and will clear for the first time the next day at 2 PM EST.

Growth Outlook and Future Catalysts

This was from my write-up in May:

“Essentially, investing in this jersey is a bet on the Nets winning a title with Durant, the sooner the better. If Durant’s Nets career is a success, having the game-worn jersey for his debut carries a lot of cachet. If they never win a title and he jumps ships in two or three years, no one is going to care about his debut jersey. FWIW, the Nets are the betting line favorite to win the title at about 2.5:1 odds.”

Well, the Nets didn’t win the title. I would keep an eye out of the U.S. Olympic team, where Durant will be front and center. A gold medal win could boost his value.

There is absolutely no rush to invest in this — I’d at least wait for the Olympics and probably through next season to see if Durant’s items are worth picking up.

Willie Mays 1968 Game Used Bat (signed)

What is the Asset?

This is a signed, game used Willie Mays bat from the 1968 season. It has been graded GU 10 by PSA/DNA. While Mays was 37 and past his prime in 1968, he was still an excellent player – making the All-Star team and winning a gold glove.

The bat was originally purchased by Rally in April of 2020 for $32,000.

What is the current status of the Asset?

It originally IPO’d at Rally Road in August 2020 with 2000 shares at $19.50/ea for a total market cap of $39,000. In the last trading window on April 6th it fell to a price of $18/share for a current market cap of $36,000. It opens again for trading on Friday July 9th from 9:30 AM – 4 PM EST.

Past Asset Growth

As stated above, the value has remained fairly flat over the past year.
