What is the Corey Seager 2012 Bowman Orange Refractor basket?
This is the first of two assets IPO’ing on Collectable 1st April in honour of baseball’s opening day. They’re both Dodger cards and both refractors. This asset is a pair of Corey Seager 2012 Bowman Orange Refractors graded BGS 9.5.
While the refractor itself is quite scarce, BGS 9.5 is the most common grade by a longshot.
It IPOs on Collectable 1st April

Cultural Relevance
Despite being a very goofy-looking human being, Corey Seager is a very good baseball player.
A few of his achievements:
- 2× All-Star (2016, 2017)
- All-MLB Second Team (2020)
- World Series champion (2020)
- World Series MVP (2020)
- NLCS MVP (2020)
- NL Rookie of the Year (2016)
- 2× Silver Slugger Award (2016, 2017)
He’s a top twenty-five player in the majors right now, and his star is surely rising with the World Series ring he got last year (and the MVP that went along with it).
The question for Seager is consistency.
His slugging percentage has been elite, comparing well to other current stars like Mike Trout and now-teammate Mookie Betts. But…2018 was rough. 2017 and 2019 were just ok. Is 2020 a sign of things to come or a false dawn?
In terms of pure power, which is undeniably what matters in terms of cultural relevance, he’s distinctly second tier at the moment.
Perhaps most importantly, his WAR stats (how many more wins he’s worth compared to an average player) are good but not great. He was top fifty in 2020, and most would consider that his best season.
He’s a great player for sure but unlikely to be a blue chip legend.
Inferred Value – $15k+

If 2020 was the new norm and not an anomaly, Seager could become an all time great one day. Probably not though.

Intangibles
I hate the Dodgers.
What is the Mookie Betts 2014 Bowman Chrome Blue Refractor basket?
This is the second of Collectable’s opening day duo. A pair of 2014 Bowman Chrome Blue Refractor cards each graded BGS 9.5. There are 150 blue refractors.
As with Seager above, BGS 9.5 is the most common grade for this card.
It IPOs on Collectable 1st April.

Cultural Relevance
Ranked the second and fourth best player in the league for 2019 and 2020, Mookie Betts is a lock for the Hall of Fame already, and—barring injury—he still has several years to play. 2018 has been his best year to date, though he’s probably not peaked, statistically-speaking.
There are 17m search results for Betts in Google to go alongside 385k monthly searches for his name.
For reference, the consensus best-player-in-the-league, Mike Trout, has around 21m results and only 200k searches per month.
The Red Sox traded him for a tax break.
Inferred Value – $22,713

Betts will continue to improve for the next several years and, as I said, is a lock for the Hall of Fame. Unlike Trout, he also tends to be more newsworthy and contentious.
Betts is Blue; Trout is Red
There are plenty of opportunities for this card to both appreciate and realise positive catalysts.

Still hate the Dodgers.
What is the Michael Jordan 1987 Fleer PSA 10?
This is a Fleer card for Michael Jordan the year after his iconic rookie card.
Of the 11k copies of these cards sent to PSA for grading, only 200 came back PSA 10, which makes this pretty rare. Just about 1.8% of the total population.
It IPOs on Rally 31st March.

Like everything Jordan in 2020, it experienced a significant runup throughout the year then exploded in the autumn. It’s come back to earth in the last month or so. It’s anyone’s guess what’s going to happen next, though this likely is a great asset to buy and hold.

This will have a roughly 90 day lockup period then will trade quarterly.

He’s still Michael Jordan.
