Fractional secondary markets

It was a mixed week for sports cards as wrestling and tennis were up while nearly everything else was down.

CardLadder’s CL50 Index, which tracks 50 Blue Chip sports cards (plus the 1999 Pokemon Charizard 1st Edition Holo), was largely flat on the week.

There’s not much to like about the sports cards IPOs this week, and we’ve recommended against all of them.

• Recommendation: Pass (valuation, was purchased for $30k in April but Robinson’s cards have declined since then. A PSA 5 sold for $20,400 in August 2021)

• Inferred Value: $35k
• Platform: Collectable

• Recommendation: Pass (valuation, Gibson card is primary value driver, and sold for $12,500 in 2003. His cards have 2x to 3x since then)
